Default Another what car for £2500 £3000 max

Need a new daily runner

Needs to have a large boot so a estate would be ideal as im doing up a house so need space for trips to DIY stores and space to chuck a mountain bike in the back for weekends.
Engine size i would rather keep in below 2.0 and not bothered if petrol or diesel and be good if it lands in the cheap tax bracket..

Thinking along the lines of VW Passat estate, Golf estate, Volvo V50/V70 estate ??

If it's a workhorse and an estate - out of the ones you've mentioned it would be a Volvo all day. However with your budget it would be quite a high miler (100k+).
As this is Ford forum, what about a mondeo estate? They look like you could get loads in them.

The D5 is a great engine.

Or go old school with an old 940 estate or earlier V70 for more simple maintenance ?

Don't cheaper tax brackets only really apply mid year 2000's ?

The E Class Merc estates are enormous inside. Not sure what £3k would get you, but might be worth a squint on Auto Trader

A good C320 diesel estate will fall in that price bracket...last of the old shape 55 /56plate sort of age....or cheaper and newer if your looking at smaller engines

Depends what age car your after, I sold my e61 msport on. 56 plate for £2750, I used that for tip runs and towing really , massive in side fitted 6 x 3 plasterboard with the boot shut

it had nice options, sat nav, folding mirrors, leather etc etc

Hope to be going to view a Skoda Octavia VRS Estate and Volvo V70 2.4 when i can giving the correct situation... A little out of my budget both at £3500 but looks nice..

Volvo is a high milage but full service history and free tax

Skoda is the same but £200 a year tax

Diesel or petrol VRS? We have a petrol mk2 and it’s a great car tbh, will still do 40+ mpg on a run.

needs a stage 1 map to make it lively though.
