MFI confusion.....
hey lads,
long story short i need to replace my red MFI lines on my 88 escort rs turbo. luckily the guy i bought the car from gave me a spare inlet manifold with 4 of the 5 MFI lines attached..
Upon starting to replace them i have come into some confusion
1. my car has the "sandwich plate" between head and inlet manifold and injectors fit into that plate, where as the spare set up i have the injectors fit into the inlet manifold? maybe a turbo vs xr3i thing?
2. the MFI unit ends of the red plastic lines have different bends in them on the spare set ,mine are more straight where, as the spares almost bend 180 degrees in a semi circle ?
i am sure the lines will fit and work but can anybody clear up my confusion with the sandwich plate, as i have read many times people use these for EFI conversions yet mine is MFI and has one fitted? the car has lots of extras on it so maybe someone added it for some gain?

Xr3i and RST both use the sandwich plate that houses the injectors. No manifold came as standard with Injectors straight in - people have modified them to take injectors however (tho usually EFI, i see no reason/benefit to do it for K/KE-JET).
Do you have a pic of the manifold?
I "think" some of the RS1600i lines were routed slightly differently to 3i/RST to the metering unit but weren't so different that you couldn't make them fit..

for £130 for 4 brand new injectors I wouldn't contemplate using them again.
fit new and save yourself the headache later on.
