Default Rs1600i single coil

Hi all, I’ve just bought a 1983 rs1600i and are having issues with it not driving under load and cutting out. My logic now is to install a distributer and single coil to prove if it’s ignition or fuel. I have already changed most of the fuel system but it still won’t run under load.

Has anyone here don’t the conversion? If so what do I need and how do I do it?

Many Thanks

Default single coil

Hi done one of these a long time ago, you need a distributor (xr3i), coil, loom from coil to distributor & then pick up an ignition feed to supply the coil, have you checked the primary & secondary resistance of the coils?, ive had a load of problems with mine not starting & it turned out to be the ecu, the company i have been using said they have problems with one coil side of the ecu so that may be your problem, secondary resistance is 15,000 ohms, primary 1.6 ohms, megajolt do a bolt on kit with crank pulley sensor, ecu & coils to replace the complete system if your interested but try & put it back to original if you can, i hope this helps
