Cheers Euan, does yours have the leads that 'clip' on the coilpack or just push on?

you can't change to a single coil unless you then use a distributor - the coil pack is still 2 coils that fire to 2 cylinders at once so what's the point to change?

Nick, wake up

normally cosworths are changed to coilpack to lose the distributor

the point to change to change is that the coil on plug packs get very hot & become unreliable with big power, there also expensive to replace, a sigle coil located out of the cylinder head will keep a lot cooler, work better, last longer & if it does need to be replaced its a sight cheaper

i know that the YBP does not have a dizzy matt, that's why i said that if you went to a single coil (not the twin coilpack) you would need to use a dizzy

it was a slightly facetious way of pointing out that the coilpack is still a twin coil, not a single coil as you asked about. but that's just me being a pedantic twat

i appreciate that having a coilpack positioned elsewhere could be more reliable, but i just prefer the simplicity of the coils on the plugs

I've got cossie managment and DIS on my XR2Turbo and just use a FRST/XR2i/XR3i EFi coil pack, easy to get hold of 2nd hand.

I use the eecIV coils with no problems
they have never given me problems at 2 bar boost
and i think they're just as reliable if not more
there's no external plug leads to break down/get wet
and they can be bought very cheap, they're same as granada ones

from Ford there about £150 each

i got offered a new set for £75 each, i'd rather convert to a single coil though.
