Default Is this new clutch acceptable condition?

Ive just bought this online for a project im doing, obviously i can send it back but i really wanted to fit it this weekend. At the same time, i don't want it fitted to my car if it's not good enough.
its hard to see in the pics but the edge has chipped off, due to poor packaging. what do you lot reckon? Will it make any difference or shall i send it back?

I don't think the very slight damage is anything to worry about if you want to get it fitted this week-end. Clean up the couple of rough bits with a file or sandpaper and fit it. Whoever you bought it from should have taken more care with the packaging!! I always take a lot of care when I sell stuff on E-Bay to make sure it arrives in good condition.

As above, I would use it but it does look like it's been dropped.

Why would you use something that is damaged. If you fit and it comes apart you won't have a leg to stand on. Send it back get a new one that isn't damaged. I'm guessing that they'll tell you to do one now anyway as you've had it a couple of days.

I wonder if the chip would put the clutch out of balance? As above I’d send it back and that would teach them to package things properly, you’ll end up being paranoid while driving for no reason.

I would fit it too. To me it looks like a small nic in the side. As long as the faces are ok.

In regards to this, it is only a nick and you would get away with it I'd say but for piece of mind I would send it back and get an undamaged one.

Mixed replies then,
its being swapped over on Monday, i didn't see why i should have the worry of it going wrong. Also if i fitted it and it caused me grief it would be to late to get it swapped.
i reckon it would probably of been ok but that's not really the point, it was just loose in a big box with the cover plate so just shit packaging.

I’ve pulled a lot worse out that still works fine admitted this clutch gave up the ghost eventually but it was fine for ages when that release bearing was long gone
