Alternator XR3i - Genuine or non genuine part?
Hi There
I own a Ford escort XR3i registered 1989, recently the alternator isn’t doing its job and needs replacing, question is, do I buy genuine or non genuine, Ford say the non genuine is approved by Ford made in same factory, it is considerably cheaper and so gone for that option as it available in few days, rather than weeks for the original, Genuine or non genuine that is the question?

Unless you need genuine for some concourse reason - they all come from the same place half the time, just a different sticker (and price!)
I've used countless non-genuine alternators on various CVH engines and theyve all been fine (lucas/bosch/delco etc)

Thank you so much for your advice, it’s good to know you have used non genuine alternators without a problem
Bosch and Lucas were fitted when new, in fact I am sure the latter is what you would have (so "genuine")
