Exclamation Ford Mondeo ST220 - Lack of power and misfires

Hello,

I own this car for a few years, bought it at 220000 km (135000 miles) and it now shows 30000km more.

Issues:

- I feel like the car lacks some of its original 226 HP. The engine runs great but lacks torque under 4000 rpm, it shows good performance but high way speed tops at 230 kph instead of 250 kph? (143mph instead of 155).

- It burns a bit of oil, I need to check how much exactly.

- I have is a random misfire at low rpm (<2000rpm) when under high load.

- Fault Code P0443 randomly appearing (Evaporative emission system purge control valve circuit), I do not think it is related though.

I replaced:

- Ignition coil, with no success.

Considering the mileage of the car, I was thinking:

- worn out pistons rings?
- obstructed cat?
- valves seals?

I would like to check the cylinders pressures but I do not know what values I should get?

Thank you!

does sound like your block may be tired especially burning oil, best advice is to get into a decent mechanical workshop or diagnostics tuner and let them run appropriate tests, the evap system can effect a lot of things too

Yes it looks tired but it must be coming from something, which I am looking for.
I do not want to spend much on this so I prefer to do the investigation myself, that is why I am looking for the pressure values I should get from the cylinders.

problem is without correct tools etc it could cost more doing your own detective could work out more expensive than actual asking a garage to take a look, compression should be 10.1 iirc

Yes you're right but I do have the tools and capacities to investigate this. That is why I am looking for ideas where to look at and that compressions check. Thanks

Hey guys,

For information I solved the misfires issue by replacing the igniition HT leads, by new OEM spec ones.
