did an oil change on my focus tonight. I don’t work on cars much and not touched one of these before. Should there be a tube that runs up the middle of the filter cap. Paper filters normally slide up one. My cap doesn’t have one
Yeah I’m worried now lol watched a few google vids pretty sure they do have them. It won’t do any damage probably there to keep the filter in place but my ocd won’t have that lol trip to ford tomorrow
when I serviced mine it had the tube but tbh its only there to stop larger pieces of debris getting into filter element if worst comes to worst but in reality if a piece of metal that large got into filter then chances are engines fooked anyway so I would not fret, but if you do feel the need to get one go to volvo it will be way cheaper as nearly as parts are for the 2.5, if you have the CAIS induction system like mine be prepared for swearing but if yours is stock then its simple
Yeah that’s the tube mine is missing. I’ll swing by Volvo today hopefully there not like daf who I work for and you can get just the cap and not just the hole filter housing lol. Was a fooker to get too but a long extension and a wobble joint sorted it. Things take some oil though! While I was under it I treated it to a new boost solenoid as well lol
I've just posted a query similar to this here. Anyone on this thread know if it is normal for the tube to wobble in the cap with the filter removed? I recall it was fixed solidly in the cap last time I serviced the car, but could be wrong.
