Gearbox filler plug question - oil coming out of filler plug!
Hi,
Working on the wife's 2008 Ka. GB oil (a lot) was leaking out of the reverse sensor so I changed that. Went to top up the GB oil just now - I'm pretty sure I have found the filler plug. 8mm hex key plug. The plug was almost out and oil started pouring out. How can oil flow out of the filler plug?? I dot get it....esp when its been leaking oil. I have looked all around the gearbox an I cant see any other plugs to fill the oil. Pic of the area is below. The plug is at the front of the GB, ie facing the front of the car. In the below pic, what I assume to be the filler is the black flat hex bung above, what I assume is the drain plug. Is this correct??
Someones likely overfilled it (quite alot to pass the threads - unless the threads are damaged). Easily done if the cars not flat or someones just pumping it in then quickly does up the plug without checking
They must have really been going to town to get that amount of oil in the GB. So I should just undo the filler plug and let it drain until it stops I guess?
