Default Adding Zetec S Bumpers and alloys to Standard 1.3 ford...will it improve performance?

So been given a deal to buy zetec S alloys and bumper set for my 1.3 ford fiesta 2001, obv zetec s was 1.6 car...given mine a 1.3 am i likely to see any performance improvements (or worse make the car go slower?) aswell as look improvement once the wheels and bumpers have been added on

Just the bumpers should give about 30bhp, I reckon with a racing stripe you should get another 10?

Surely this a joke? Of course you will not see any improvement in performance by fitting some wheels and bumpers off a 1.6 Fiesta, it may look better but that is all it will do.

If the wheels/tyres and a larger diameter than original ones then yes it will definitely affect acceleration.

On his 1.3 Fiesta I doubt if that would be a major problem!!

You are worrying over nothing, what difference will it make to your every day driving if it takes an extra second or two on your 0-60mph times? Its not a highly tuned track or drag car, if you like the look of the bumpers and bigger wheels just buy them and fit them.

Having 4 people in your car rather than 1 or 2 will make the engine work harder !! but come on, any difference that the extra weight of the bumpers and wheels will make will be so small you will not notice it. As I have already said if you like the look of the new wheels and bumpers just get on and fit them.

If you fold the passenger seat down flat it reduces drag and should increase your top speed. #toptips

So picked up bumpers and alloys. Alloys look ok one covered in paint that seems scratch off with my nail quite easily. The guy wasnt 100% truthful as front bumper got a crack on it around fog lamp. Took them anyway as alloys alone were prob worth 100. Side skirts look fine and bk bumper looks ok but been primed already so no idea if he covered any cracks in that at all

If the rolling radius is the same then no difference, you need to check the wheel and tyre dimensions against an online checker, if the 15’s are low profile and 13s balloon tyres then there will be very little gearing difference. If the 15’s have a larger rolling radius it will give slower acceleration and I doubt it will have the power to pull a higher top speed.

if the tyres are wider then you also have a higher rolling resistance so the car would be slower and use more petrol.

Best off fitting an ST badge and powered by fairy dust sticker to add more torque to overcome it all (and drop the back seats)

Easy to fibre glass the rear of any cracks but remember to drill a small hole right at the end of the crack as that stops the crack from spreading further.

To be honest the best thing you could do is leave it well alone, maintain it properly and keep it as a good daily runner for you and your family. Your mechanic mate is probably right, start throwing shit like that at it and it is probably going to cost you more money than it's worth.
