Co adjust mk4 efi escort

Hi after some help adjusting co potentiometer. Should it just adjust with car running or do you need to plug in to a diagnostics machine. Is there a set way to set it up. Thanks

Engine running, using gas analyser to monitor/set correctly

So can you just adjust it with engine idling. I've got a gas analyser to check reading.

You start there.
Ideally you'd then want to go for a drive with an AFR gauge hooked up to ensure all is well throughout the driving range
