What cams for 2.3 turbo conversion?
Objective is to run approx 7-10PSI (0.5-0.7BAR) on stock internals and using E85 as fuel.
Engine is basically a Scorpio 2.3 16V DOHC I4
The engine as it is right now is NA with a 2.0 16V head (approx 11.8:1) with performance cams for a NA engine.
I will be converting to turbo in the next few months, this will include fitting a 2.3 head to lower the CR to 10:1 compression.
My question is would I be better off refitting the stock 2.3 16V cams?
Stock cams
240°/240°
Cam lift. inlet mm 9.4
Cam lift. exhaust mm 8.75
Valve timing. inlet opens BTDC øCS9
Valve timing. inlet closes ABDC øCS51
Valve timing. exhaust opens BBDC øCS48
Valve timing. exhaust closes ATDC øCS12
Performance cams
260/256°
Cam lift. inlet mm 10.8
Cam lift. exhaust mm 10.6
Valve timing. inlet opens BTDC øCS19
Valve timing. inlet closes ABDC øCS61
Valve timing. exhaust opens BBDC øCS59
Valve timing. exhaust closes ATDC øCS17
