Just about finished my conversion , I'm running Omex 600. It's firing but won't run unless you give a squirt of brake cleaner. The guy at Omex said the standard injectors won't be sufficient and I get that but I would have thought for starting they would be OK. I'm also running a standard new rst Bosch pump. Am I missing somthing ? Any help would appreciated

Are the injectors squirting any fuel?

 

What map is on the OMEX ECU? If it is not calibrated for that engine or injectors then it will not run well if at all mate, worse case you could actually damage your engine!

The plugs smell of fuel and the exhaust manifold is getting warm on all four ports so I'm guessing I'm nearly there. As for the Map Karlos I called Omex and told them what was what and he emailed me a map which a mate then loaded on to the ecu. If you think the pump is up to the job I will give Omex another ring in the morning.

Is it worth finding someone who can map omex and get the last bit done?

 

That's certainly the plan, I just didn't want to turn up at tuner with a none running car.

 

Hello folks, just a small update. I've been dicking around over the last couple of days. The car runs with a bit brake/clutch cleaner because theirs ( I believe) low fuel pressure . The actual rail pressure is 2.7 bar. Looking through an Escort Haynes manual its sayning the main line pressure on the ke jetronic is 5.5 to 6.0 bar . So I rekon I'm well down. Barring a kink or somthing in the the fuel line I'm going to get hold of a new pump, I'll let you know

 

Mine in Megasquirt runs 3bar with the fuel reg vac hose disconnected. Mfi runs a lot higher than efi.

 

My Focus Rs bassed turbo Zetec has a 2.7 bar reg and 400cc injectors.
Standard 1.8/2.0 Blacktop would be 220cc with a 3.8 bar reg.

 

So a standard rst pump and some sort of regulater down to 3bar will do me ?

You'll need to describe your current fuel system, from pump, to rail, to injectors and back to tank

 

Also what sort of power your targeting, what turbo and so on.

 

ditch the jetronic.especially as your going aftermarket ecu
