Hi I'm new to this but can anyone help?
I need to change front wheel hub and bearing. I have dismantled everything but can't get to drive shsft out of the hub, it's stuck solid.
Anyone had this problem before?

Loosen it all off, leave the drive shaft nut on about half a dozen turns, and give it a couple of good firm blows with a copper hammer, should come out.
Done up to a ridiculous torque so will be f-tight
Make sure you put a new nut on when you put it back together

 

If it's a mk1 Focus or any other Ford with 4 stud wheels then use a cheap hub puller, about Ł10
If it's a mk2 or any other with 5 studs then the hub pullers are a bit more expensive

Attach to the hub with a couple of wheel bolts and wind down the screw, easy, best though to use a couple of scrap wheel bolts

 

It's a bloody mare both near side shafts on mine are seized even a lump hammer would not budge them and it broke my puller..

most stuff on a mk1 focus is a total pain.

Even at work the older stuff comes apart more easily.

 

My mk2 focus drive shaft seized solid as well. Even heat and a 20 ton press wouldn't budge it! Ended up having to replace the lot.

 

Here's how:

 

Ha ha think we can all get the nut undone.......
But all shafts are not the same some have a left handed thread.

The problems we are ALL having are the spline drive is Seized in the hub. Lucky for me I have a spares car😂

 

I had the same issue on my Cossie. It was seized solid and I broke my pullers too. Had to replace it in the end.
