My ap never let me down with 500bhp loads of launch control launches as well. I then sold the clutch to little dan from Basingstoke who had it re-lined used my old cover and abuses the Fook out of it every time he drives his thing lol great clutch
AP covers vary in clamp load, the early type was a bit like the Helix but newer ones are no where near the same. I'm sure they quote around a torque figure of 350lb

I have your Helix hi torque one and it seems excellent, you do need your hydraulic conversion on it though to be comfortable in stop start traffic.
I previously had an Alcon 6 paddle clutch with a standard cover in my old moonstone 3dr running a harvey gibbs 400/400 engine and i abused the total crap out of it and it took it all day long but i cant seem to find alcon for sale anymore.
I previously found AP clutches to be quite hard on the pedal hence opted for Alcon.

I run the ap 6 paddle with a standard cover with no problems at all but i am running less power at 360. You can get the Ap 6 paddle plate from Burtons.

This is why I opted for the helix clutch ap don't have a high torque figure unless going to a multi plate type.
A hydraulic clutch is a must I agree but I don't like the idea of holes in the bulkhead.
I have faith but I also like to drive it very hard with zero mechanical sympathy - if it breaks then fix it to be better and stronger
Maybe I have been lucky as mine gets thrashed a lot! Prepare it to a high standard and it should'nt let you down. I think its a myth that Cosworths are fragile and unreliable.
It is a myth as any car that is properly maintained and built will be reliable. My old moonstone 3dr was great as once the Harvey Gibbs engine was in we never had to take it apart and it took 5 years of abuse and track days
Totally agree, the problem is that people with little money or not prepared to pay out for them got in to Cosworths and expected to go from 200 bhp to 500bhp with little more than winding up some boost, they then wondered why they broke 4x4 gearboxes etc and I suspect some of the maps were shoddy plus the cars are now old and need some new service parts, better gaskets and all the other bits.
If you run big power you need good intercooler etc...
They can definitely be reliable who follows Johnathan on Facebook? 700bhp saff road car he takes it to the strip kicks it’s head in running low 10 second quarters at 140 ish terminal so a fooking quick car as it’s on road tyres and fully trimmed. Then go’s home lol. Right bits built right

That sounds like the ultimate Saff!!! He must have some serious fun in it!!
Yeah, that and Rods...I hope that one finds a new home and gets developed.
Shocking what that’s up for now last time I was at marks picking up my gearbox I asked about it and he told me. In my head I was thinking if I sold all my bits my motorbikes and took half my savings I could buy that or put in a serious offer I then thought right stop thinking like that I’ll get tempted lol
Not much more than the cost of a new Focus RS!! I know which one I would have, the Saff for sure!!
absolutely and I doubt it will go down in value.
It would make sense for Ford or one of the big brands to buy it and use it for promotional work.
I asked the MRS but she is not keen on another car at home having just got shot of one off the drive, she said I would have to sell my little Gti or the 944
