Default Escort mk5/6 4x4 rear axle

Hi, im looking for some answers about the rear axle of an 1996 Escort 4x4. The plan is to mount one on my Capri mk1 1970 302 build instead of the atlas axle to get IRS. It will be used as RWD not 4x4.

What is the total axle width from hub to hub?
Total weight of this axle?
This axle is same for mk5/mk6?
Does the 7,5" diff fit? Because i will only go RWD not 4x4 or will it work with the oem mk6 diff?
What is the max hp / tq on mk6 diff?
Do you know any good site for adjustable Control arm etc?
Any differens on the axle from a normal car / cosworth?

Many questions i know but i hope this help me deside what way to go. I want to stay ford parts Thanks in advance!

What a good idea but i bet the parts like suspension arms wont be cheap. Could you not use a jaguar rear end instead.

i'm using this mustang axle off the new 2015 mustang, but could be to wide for a capri unless you have x pack arches, its 65 inches hub face to face, but comes complete as you see it here, and is LSD, will take any power you put to it, and are cheap in the states, shipping shouldn't be to bad if they sent it groupage, i got this one for the back end of a transit van, so width not an issue

I'd have thought that the diff would be no where near strong enough.

A Capri Mk1 is listed at 64.8" wide, so massive arches required. That axle is pretty wide.

Thanks for the replies!

Many people uses the jaguar rear. It will handle power but will also be to heavy. As the car is pretty light it will only be mild power tuning. Thats why i thought of using the light alloy subframe and maybe a 7,5" uprated diff. If the mk6 frame not would be to wide to fit (shorten would reduce the power handling worse i think) i then will make my own adjustable control arms as the width is not the same of capri/escort. But people uses sierras rear susp. wich seem to fit and sierra should be wider than escort.

The car will have cologne not and it approx 69" wide the info I have found. I will check out the mustang parts as newer cars should have some alloy stuff also.

Thanks in advance!
