Default whats it worth? freshly rebuilt 200 blocked yb

Contemplating breaking my 2wd cossie, starting with the engine which ive just had rebuilt by a reputable builder. Below is the spec list but ive no idea what an engine is worth these days. Happy to take it to pm if this upsets the mods, at the moment i am planning on keeping her, depending on how my finances go. But ive just got out of hospital surviving pneumonia and blood poisoning so no time to build and no money at the moment!

So you have a brand new 200 block with new standard size Mahle Pistons . Standard size crank polished & balanced along with the crankshaft pulley wheel , skimmed flywheel & brand new Ap racing organic clutch .
ARP stud & nut kit fitted to the main caps .
Arp Conrod bolts .
New standard size bearings & thrust washers .
New oil pump .
2wd Sapphire cylinder head lightly skimmed . Looks like it's been ported . All valves have been removed cleaned , decoked and lapped in .
New oil seals , all guides checked . Newman cams BD14 inlet , BD10 exhaust
Arp head stud & nut kit
Cometic mls head gasket .
All new genuine seals & gaskets .
4x4 inlet with 10mm spacer

Good for 400bhp at 2 bar of boost

I would say more like Ł8k plus, the brand new 200 block is worth a lot of money by itself. Sounds like a top engine to me.

Ł8k, surely you are having a laugh.
Sounds like a good engine, but I fail to see what 'special' ingredients are in it to justify what you suggested, based on the items listed above.

That was my thoughts, just a refreshed standard engine.

I certainly agree that you could easily spend over Ł8k assembling all of those parts.

Also, when I said Ł5k plus that means just that, could be more, much more.

My cost comparison is always the smith and jones ally block as I would build that with arrow crank and new pistons if spending a lot, you can't pay too much before going ally.

Don’t know mate but to be fair it’s probably quiet hard to sell an engine like that. It’s a lot of money and very few are prepared to waste that on one. Plus not many want that sort of power in a road car.

Pretty sure it was Mark Shead.

Edit: found this thread, was originally a 2.2 stroker build by MA Developments.

Had a good read through...that's pretty much the spec I would want to run my 205 at but with the smaller BW to fit in the engine bay and I don't think I need more than 580 bhp in my little 205 as 469bhp is pretty mental.

What compression ratio?

Cheers Paul

Totally agree prices have easily trebled since then, just look at the price of a 3 door over that time.

The true value is what someone is willing to pay.
This can be very different to what people put things up for sale.
Therefore the best advice would be from someone who has actually either just Bought or Sold a similar spec engine.

Common sense to me would be the value of the same spec 205 blocked engine plus about Ł1k (to allow for the 200 block).

12 to 1600 block
750 crank
rods 120
flywheel 50
clutch 200
at studs worth nothing really
head 1000

I'd say built up if say 5k with pistons

remember this what things are advertised for are not the realistic selling price

I'd say your pricing for parts is bang on jay going off of what I see on eBay on a bid, realistically I reckon all in 6k.

You would be doing pretty well to get a new condition 200 block for 1500 in my opinion, same for a decent head but that just my opinion.

It's not new though, it's used
Plus you would have to pull the engine apart to be sure.
