Default Leaking Manifold...options?

So my ford fiesta (2001) with the endura e engine 1.299cc has a manifold that needs replacing, had a slow coolant leak for a while but now I have to refill the coolant tank every day to drive anywhere, My mechanic looked into repairing it but said a new manifold from ford is £360 inc vat tried looking on ebay for 2nd hand ones, is there any other option on repairing this cheaper? otherwise looking like the car could be a write off as value is only £200 from the insurance these days. dont really have cash to go buying a new car and a 2nd hand car would also cost a fair chunk as well to get anything decent.... so i am feeling fairly lost what to do with this situation.

it's probably just a gasket that's leaking unless your mechanic has identified a crack in the manifold? it's a very common problem (my ka runabout has the same thing), it seems to be leaking near one of the temperature sensors but i haven't been bothered to attempt to sort it out yet.

a new gasket would only be a few quid, worth a try at least!

thank you I will let him know tomorrow and see what he says. he says he can see coolant coming from the manifold itself though.

Is this a metal part or plastic ?

If it's a common problem, then there isnt a lot of point buying second hand, as it could happen to the next one if it isnt already bad.

If you post a pic of the problem someone might have an idea of how to fix it!

Pound to a penny it's the thermostat housing. The wife's got a 1.3 ka.

My wife's did the same. She got it more than a bit warm so I didn't fancy the genuine ford part at over £100 so I put a Chinese eBay copy on. £15 delivered. It only lasted a year so I've just done it again with another. Only takes half an hour.

Top the car up with water, you need a good torch. Run the car and with the torch look to the right hand side of the cylinder head and you will see the thermostat / coolant manifold over the top of the gearbox. You will probably see it dripping and or pink coolant crystals around it and the gearbox.

When you take it of make sure to clean the head up before fitting the new one.

Doesn't a ford puma manifold fit them fiesta's? the aluminum one in the 1.7 puma.

Just found this on project puma: https://www.projectpuma.com/viewtopic.php?t=6302

as stated in the original post, it's the endura e engine, so the same as an early KA not a rocam one with the thermostat over the gearbox. it's also nothing like the 1.7 puma engine.
