Default Need to separate 2wd exhaust manifold - Scared!

Hi,

I'm fitting a stage 3 hybrid turbo in place of a smaller hybrid. I managed to get the old one off by unbolting it from the 'trousers'/secondary/upper manifold after having a massive faff disconnecting the coolant banjo at the back of it. The stage 3 has a larger compressor housing which now fouls on the head so I was thinking of separating the 2 piece manifold at the lower joint as it suggests in the Ford Workshop Manual. I've tried to slacken one of the bolts but it's tight.

Will the four 12-point bolts come out if I 'grow a pair' apply a bit more pressure or are they likely to shear leaving me with a hell of a job?

Thanks

10mm 12 point socket required on 1/2 " drive. They might snap if they do use titaium bolts from ebay saves the cost of those original bolts.

Could always try a little heat.

I chickened out and managed to fit the the turbo by removing all but one of the studs and prior fitting the coolant input pipe to it. After jiggling it into place and inserting the studs I used a crowsfoot spanner to torque the studs then fit the nuts. Awkward but successful.

That is what his super sharp claws are made of. Unfortunately it is not a real material!
