Hello

I drive a Ford Focus MK1 with a 1.4 Zetec engine. For some reason it only has 75HP. The original 1.4 from the Ford Puma has 90HP.

What do i have to change to get those 90HP?

so far i found that the intake manifold is bigger on the puma and the airbox has a better position. I guess there are differences in the ecu. i dont know about the throttlebody. is there anything else they changed?

 

On the focus 1.6 and fiesta 1.6 the focus has better gearing if that helps may be same for the 1.4

 

How does the gearbox change hp? I thought that is an engine thing?

 

It doesn't, and yes it is.

They are the same engine, but it had to be detuned for emissions reasons.

As you say, I suspect the mapping to be different.
