Default RS turbo s1 track car - relay help required please

Hello,

I have recently added a track prepped S1 to my collection and am having a bit of a headache with the fuel relay .

The original on melted the terminals inside which I managed to fix . The cars ran fine but the relay was still getting hot after the fix so I added a second relay to take the load etc.
Now the original relay is still getting hot :-/ and it's annoying me .

I've spent days checking wiring and earths etc. And although it is a bit messy under the dash it is sound so I'm left a bit baffled . I've checked the amp draw on the pump ( new ) and its around 8.3A on tick over and have changed the filter and checked for fuel blockages etc . Also changed the fuel pressure regulator .

The ignition switch wiring has 4 wires ( I think it's from a different model ) but is wired 'correctly' to the car side three pin connector .

One thing I have noticed is after starting the car ( position 3 ) and with the ignition back at key position 2 ( running ) the continuity between the live feed to the ignition barrel wiring and the wire in position 3 flicks on and off ? Surely it should be open after starting , could this be making the relay flick continuously and make it hot ? I can't hear anything .

If there's anyone that can tell me what voltages I should be seeing at the relay terminals I would be very grateful as its driving me insane .

Sorry for the lengthy post 🙁 Hope it makes sense .

Many thanks , Pete
