Default New fuel filter. Ran fine bust won't start next day.

I just changed the fuel filter on my 2009 1.6 TDCi.

Primed it etc. Started first time and ran fine on a road test.

Next day won't start.

I primed it again, re-fitted the pipes and it's started.

I am guessing there is an air leak somewhere...

I put on a Crosland filter. Is that my problem?

I'm just going to leave it an hour and see if it starts ok, then see what happens tomorrow. what a total PITA....

On the plus side, the new filter did fix the P0299 under boost fault code...

Had the same engine in my misses old car and I remember that they were very sensitive to the filters that you used on them, most say you should use genuine parts

Hmmm, so it will be interesting to hear what Crosland say about supplying sub standard parts and the costs incurred in having to do the job twice....

After 4 hours stopped, it did start again but only after turning over for a few seconds longer than normal.

I don't want to risk the injector pump so I'll go swap it for a UFI filter.

Reading some more about Crosland, apparently it's basically EuroCarParts own brand and can actually be made anywhere by anyone...

I'm thinking it's letting air in somewhere.

Returned the Crosland filter and bought a UFI one instead.

Fitted it and the car ran ok.

Left it overnight and this morning it started fine too, so looks like the moral of the story is: Don't buy Crosland!

Yep, could have just been a fluke... but I read a bit on the net about the Ford Focus being 'sensitive' to filter brands... in theory they should all be made to spec.

My focus certainly was not happy the day after with the crossland and has been fine ever since with the UFI.

I've bought stuff from eurocar parts in the past and gone for the cheaper brands and quite often it's turned out to be crap...

Now I just need to find some non crumbly hoses to the DPF pressure sensor....
