Basically in the middle of rebuilding my CVH engine and I'm doing a T3 conversion. However the oil return to the block as seen in the diagram below has been blocked off and a return to the sump has been welded in. I'm wondering if the position of the oil return stub that has been welded to the sump is in the right place for the T3 turbo as it was a T2 that was on it before.
Hmm never seen it put in the bottom before normally in the front of the sump, I've always put the return into the block, not sure if it will effect anything being under neither the pressure might squirt the oil up into the crank and rods etc personally I would move it to the front of the sump
What benefits does it its on the front of the sump mate ? Noticed fiesta turbo do this as an oil return modification which can be seen here :- http://www.fiestaturbo.com/forums/fi...guide-vt38059/ . So surely this will be ok ? I take it the only difference between the t2 and t3 is that the the t3 is situated higher than the t2 ? so the pipe from the turbo to the sump will need to be longer.
I would say that if the oil return was in the bottom it would squirt the oil up and having the the return inthe front means alot shorter piping and look better and tidier, never really looked into a t2 my fiesta had a t3 when I brought it running a t34 now if you know a have decent welder (let's face it we own fords so we should) I'd do as it says in that thread mate maybe just pick up a second sump shouldn't be a lot ask on fiestaturbo someone will have a spare I'm sure maybe with a return already in it
