Default Single use rear hubs and bearings?

I was replacing the rear brakes on my daily driver (mk2 Mondeo) today and noticed Mr Haynes says to replace the rear hubs and bearings anytime you remove the hub?

why would this need to be the case?

many thanks in advance!

If you haven't already removed the bearings then don't. You should adequate room to replace brake shoes if its drum brakes. If its disc brakes you have no requirement to touch the bearings.
