Default 2012 tdci power held back under heavy load

Had a 2012 focus 2.0 diesel 163bhp version powershift since march. Had 8000 on clock.

Been fine until 3 week ago and everytime i accelerate hard eg overtake on motorway the "engine malfunction light comes on" and i cannot accelerate any more.

Switch car off and on again clears the fault of screen until next time.

Ive read the code and its p1169 - fpr (fuel pressure regulator) too high/out of perameter for engine condition)

Eg its too slow for the amount of fuel going in.

First port of call i cleaned sensor on top of fuel rail. No good.

Then luckily my dad has same engine in his mondeo swapped his sensor in and still throws the code up.

So it must be before the fuel rail sensor as this seems to be working fine.

I know there is a regulator at the back of the fuel pump which looks a twat to get to. Is it worth the labour cleaning and or replacing this ? And can it be replaced without buying an 800 quid pump ??

Or could it be something else

Cheers
Andy

Don't throw money at a modern diesel in the hope it will fix it. Your best bet is to use a proper diesel specialist or a well reputed garage (not a main dealer) to do some live readings of the various sensors etc to determine what is wrong.
