2002 1.8 Focus rear wiper and boot fob thing.
Hello chaps, this seems to be the place to come for such things, can someone help? I have 2 tiny issues with my otherwise brilliant 2002 Focus, one is that the boot won't open with the fob, I've done the GEM diagnostics, there's a signal from the fob as well as the dash button, but not so much as a squeak from the mechanism at the boot end. I've checked voltages at the plug and one pin has 12.7v with the ignition off, the rest are dead, I assume the ECU will send a signal to earth something and the boot opens. The mechanism was misaligned, could it be that it's ovecome the fuse or relay if there is one?
Similar story with the rear wiper, GEM check says the signal is being received but the wiper doesn't move, there's 12.7v heading into one of the pins with ignition on and wiper switch activated, but no movement. Is there a fuse for this or is it likely to be a relay? (front wipers also playing silly buggers, not parking right etc).
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

does sound like you have some gremlins, wipers not parking is very common and 99% of the time its down to a faulty relay behind the glovebox and also same issue for rear wiper too and same location on fusebox, I would perhaps try these relays first as it may well recitfy your tailgate issue or worst case may be a faulty actuator or faulty release button on fob

Thanks buddy, I'll swap the front and rear relays and see what happens, if the rear works then I'll swap them both out. Does the boot catch have a relay then? If I can find a wiring diagram, I'll test the boot actuator if it's not a relay. Wipers are no biggie, fumbling for the keys in the dark for the boot, is
Thank you.
Thank you.

Right, I jiggled the wiper solenoid and at least the front wiper attempted to park, so front is dodgy, rear is shot. I'm still baffled by the boot latch problem though, unless there is a fuse or relay, it's looking like the actual lock mech may be fubared.

Quick update, two relays swapped out, wiper parking issue sorted, and boot lock now working from key fob and dash button. Rear wiper still not playing ball though, I can live without that for now. Thanks for the help chaps and have a lovely Xmas
