Love it, thanks for posting. Do you need billiard smooth places to drive these or would they run on a concrete / Tarmac driveway?

I used to love my Tamiya 959 as it handled so well in a 4wd drift kind of way, I expect yours would be similar and then slap on some drift wheels if you can borrow an indoor hall

I bet that's worth a few £££ with all those hop ups, its funny how even these suffer from the 'cosworth tax' too.
I have the tiger stripe one, its never even been used. I think the Michelin escort is the more desirable though.

With the suspension raised, the body jacked up, and the rally-block tyres, it is even happy to run on on grass

Yes, with the carbon fibre chassis and the very rare bits from the 'Top Force Evolution' to fit it, it properly amounts to quite a lot.

The Michelin Pilot is later than the tiger stripe one I think. Sadly my shell isn't in perfect condition, it has been bashed a few times.

Dust off yours :-D LOL

What does it go like with the brushless setup compared the standard type? I've never had brushless before, how long does the NiMh battery last?
Yeah I really should blow the dust off it, trouble is I got a few others covered in dust as well.

I had a mint std spec ta-01 Cosworth I had to sell it though as couldn't bring myself to use it .

Yours looks great with the carbon chassis, I've just bought a Shumacher Carbon touring car to hopefully start racing again

Cool! Brings back some memories!

When I used to race R/C cars, I got given an old carbon chassis Tamiya Top Force Evolution so I converted my old TA01 that i had lying about to use that chassis and took it to a couple of race meetings and it did pretty well! Until I stripped the rear diff gear in the final anyway! I don't think it liked my 10 triple motor I was using!

I do really miss my racing days though

Still got all my old race cars

I have got an FG marder that I use in the garden and on the common. It does about 45 mins or more on a full tank of unleaded but I don't think I have ever done a full tank as I break something first.....these things are heavy and jump for miles. I also have a couple of rc helis and took lessons at flyin fish.

I'll never get rid of them mate, I bought loads of new old stock parts to completely rebuild my Cat 2000 including genuine Schumacher bodyshell and undertray, wheels etc........... Going to rebuild them all and stick them in a nice display cabinet with some of my trophies

Yours look sweet mate, I haven't seen a Manta Ray in years. Iirc that's what the TA01 chassis was based on.

I remember those chargers with the dial on the front too, seemed like an eternity before the batteries had finished charging! Lol!

I gave up racing in the late 90's when I started college and then buying a real car took up all my time! Lol! Everything seems to have moved on so much since I stopped!

I used to love my off road stuff but that pretty much all died out around where I am so I started racing on road with the SST but didn't really enjoy it as much as off road 

I think you gave up racing around the same time I did and for the same reason lol . Got to the age real cars were more appealing so the rc got ditched

Funny though always fall back into it and want to race again this time hoping I do actually get back into it , but as you say things have changed a lot . The cars are still the same albeit newer designs but the electrics are totally different . Back then a £60 nicad would last a race at full peak but now the lipo batteries cost 3x that and will do 3 races on one charge .

Everything has got rather expensive too , remember the top speed controls being £150 ish .... Novak cyclone , lrp ipc v6 etc etc ..... Now top spec gear is double that

Nice car..

I've got a Fiesta R5 in 1/10th scale.
(So i finally DO have a scale model of my mk7.5 Fiesta..)

Mine is on a carbonfiber with aluminum chassis from Corally
(Dutch brand with some Serpent parts in it)

However i kept the chassis stock,as it's really good already.
I did upgrade the motor to a 4300KV brushless one..

Even with my old 2000 MaH batteries it's very fast😀

I still got the Acoms transmitter..
These were not that expensive 20 years ago...
Ofcourse it's the AM modulated version as FM was really high end at that time.
And it still works too

Now i use a cheap chinese digital transmitter (and no more duplicate frequencies anymore as they are keyed to the receiver)

Heres some of my Tamiya RC cars. All built, tested then put in a cabinet and never really used. Still have boxes excluding the Subaru which was a bit of a custom job.I probably have this many again stashed around the house,

Wow, some really cool rc cars here. There was a guy down the beach at the weekend racing a petrol one up and down the sand, it was sooo fast! I'm getting rc car envy and can feel me getting one again soon.

This is one of mine from a few years back, a small buggy with a monster truck engine, would do a set of tyres on an outing and munch the cv joints in no time

Not been on here for ages but good to still see some interest in model cars.

Quick video of me racing one car I just sold at a friends club

Used to race touring cars but gave it as the nearest outdoor track is 30 miles away in Stafford.

It's possible!! I drove in to myself with it too, luckily it was just a glancing blow that left a good bruise, if it was a direct hit it would probably have broken my ankle!
