Are you talking about a Cossie YB starter? Any links to the sort of products you have seen?

Cant comment on using on a YB. but for a race spec pinto these are a must.
As you say Edge do them. As do RIX, Brise, Powerlite, Wosp. and others.

I am glad I saw this thread, I have just bought the Edge one to try, looks like a good weight saving and they claim it will start ANY engine. My car is not a good cold starter so a new starter motor cannot hurt. I just hope it spins the engine fast enough as they use a reduction gear.

I'm sure I used a Transit Connect one on my RS500 with the 2.3 engine, less than a Ł100 as I recall.

As Martin said use a connect 1.8 td starter motor they are geared the same as the ones your are talking about and a third of the price.

Don't think they fit 4x4 but deff work on a 2wd with T5 box.

Yes, I previously ordered a connect but I think they must fit the 2wd as the bolt pattern is wrong, I have I brand new and unused if anyone wants to buy it cheaply.

The connect needs it threads drilling out as the transit bolts the other way and we need the bolts to pass through it.

I didn't drill any holes on the one I bought, it just bolted straight up and worked great. It will work great for Hellraiser and so cheap.

It's not needed for your engine.

I have been wanting to change my starter for a while as I suspect it is on its way out. I got the car stuck half on a trailer once when the winch failed and I used the starter to drive the car fully up and it really smoked it so I think it is not the best therefore felt a different one was worth a go.

Next time the car is with you I will need you to try and help solve the cold start as it takes a load of cranking but I want to replace all the fuel first as it has had the same tank for so,e time now.
