Default Track day checks

right i'm on track in a couple of weeks, booked a day off a couple days before to give the car a quick check over.

usual stuff, gonna fit some fresh oil and new filter, check all my levels.

my brake discs are a little warped, should i get em skimmed in situ or replace with new (worried about only having 100 or so miles before track so might warp new ones) maybe use the old pads or fit some new?

tyres are new, got some new plugs to go in, car is the Focus RS in my sig.

any more suggestions from the track regulars

All the usual fluid and maintenance checks. probably new discs and pads in your situation. Check the accessible suspension bolts and wheel bolts with a torque wrench.

Empty out the junk.

What track day you doing mate?

Major check is wheel bearings! Seen a lot of people with ruined wheel bearings halfway through a day due to extra high cornering speeds they don't normally do on the road,

Another check is screen wash, as flat out you may need it especially this time of year with a likely wet/damp track with spray,

All fluids

Brakes
Clutch
Oil
Gearbox
Power steering

Tyre tread to make sure they will last the day AND GET YOU HOME LEGALLY! Easy to get carried away then realise there bald at the end of the day lol

Tyre pressures, best to take a foot pump as you may want to alter pressures to suit and return to normal to drive home

Make sure you have both tow eyes and have them fitted before you get out on track

Lastly empty all the loose crap from the car before going out on track

I'd advise against skimming if they are warped, as soon as they heat up they will warp again.

Ye get new discs, as above, they'll only warp again, they are going to be used harder than they ever will be on the road.

Your choice is either new disks or go with warped discs that will only get worse.

I wouldn't fit discs and go straight on track, if you can get them out and bed them in a bit before hand, 10/20 miles would do it

the brakes will be cooked on track in any case, so just do a quick bleed of the calipers to make sure there's good fluid in the calipers and then see what happens with your current set up

once you know they aren't up to track day use then perhaps you can go the upgrade route rather than just on a standard set of discs/pads
