I have been looking into this.
As most 200 blocks now have been re-bored within an inch of their lives.
What are your thoughts on liners.
I am planning on running around 500 BHP and looking at the bottom end to cope with the power.
I am sure if I could find a good 200 block it would cope, but they are few and far between.
Is anyone running on liners are they " once fitted forget ".
I have heard of Nikasil or Steel liners also what's peoples thoughts on both.
Cheers

How much did this cost if you don't mind telling me....
And who did it ?
It means that I can purchase a used block that's probably had its last re-bore.
When fitting liners are they stronger than normal....

I recently had my block lined, it was over bored for its Pistons on its last rebuild so while it was at NMS recently for loads of engine work we decided to send the block off to his machinist place to be lined so it's all spot on correct.
Was around 1500 with all the labour.
Karl says its stronger than ever how it is now
Cheers Paul

I considered oil spray jets and Mark told me it's a big expense that's not needed with a standard crank shaft. So the money's going towards something else lol
why ?The small turbo block has them as standard and means you can use a pinto oil pump at a faction of the cost of a yb one which are getting thin on the ground.
No idea mate but I'm going 680 and it's fine without them so im not using them. It's expensive enough as it is so if that money can be saved and it's still fine then I'm all for it lol.

Steel needs to be nicasil coated and ultimatly the strongest but sizing of pistons is much harder and if you damage coating the liner is scrap.

I've decided the belt and braces approach is best. Going nicasil wet liner, oil spray jets and dry sump.
I don't think my shallow winged and gated sump was good enough and contributed to the shells wearing.
Don't forget with nicasil liners you also need titanium coated rings.

Leave for Thailand that day for two weeks, rain check?
We've actually recently dialled the build back a bit as in the words of the engine builder it will be a "uncontrollable coffin"!
How's yours running?

No real target to be honest. Previously ran about 430bhp and was pretty terrifying. Was running gt30 and Siemens 83lb blacks on a Reyland built engine. We were restricted by 2wd inlet and 4x4 exh manifold.
Basically I want to extend the power band and Rev to 8500 safely. We're going solid lifters for this, arrow crank and Carrillo long rods. I have a set of 9.5:1 pistons but won't run that high as id have to use race fuel all the time.
Idea is to have usable power from 3300-3400- 7700ish whether that will actually happen or not is debatable.
Sorry for thread highjack
I went wet liner as the peak cylinder pressures we were aiming for are high (bringing boost in early). My block would have been borderline at +1mm.

Crank should be absolutely fine, I managed to get a good price on a package from an ex Julian Godfrey rally cross engine. Forgot to mention it has billet crank caps as well.
