Default Any hyundai people about?

A neighbour has an 06 plate i800 and to cut a long story short the dealer they bought it from and take it to for mot/any work sound like they have been shafting them for years...

The latest one is a small oil leak that started a couple of days after its last service there. They want over £4k to replace the intercooler as apparently its swimming with oil and leaking, yet the thing doesnt smoke and there is no loss of power etc.

Anyway, i had a quick look earlier and i can see where the oil is coming from, on the inlet side of the intercooler pipework there is a lower rubber hose, and alloy tube and an upper rubber hose.

It looks like the oil is coming from the upper hose and running down the alloy pipe, the lower hose and then onto the engine tray... Then their driveway!

So what i am asking basically is how much is the upper rubber hose part lol?
Or can you get a samco etc?

Cheers.

The wife's i20 diesel does the same thing, weeps oil from the intercooler pipework. I've had it all apart, cleaned it up, put it back together with new hose clamps and it leaks just the same as before!

How can they come up with over £4k!!!! That is more than the car is worth!!
Please tell them to take it to someone who can sort it out for sensible money.

Probably not lol. How many miles has it done? How much is it leaking? The wifes doesn't pour out but it is enough to seep out and make the pipes wet, giving a drip every now and again. It isn't enough to require topping up between oil changes but it's still a leak. Hers has done 110k.

A new non genuine one on ebay is less than £200. What dealer are they using? Not platinum Hyundai in Chippenham by any chance? They are a bunch of crooks.

Wouldn't worry too much unless it starts getting smokey or running crap. Designed by Koreans and built by Indians, hardly a recipe for refinement lol

Suggest they leave it on the road then, with a bit of luck someone will pinch it or drive in to it

Metal or plastic drip tray will sort that out.

cheers bud, i dont suppose you can get a price on the upper ic hose that goes to the inlet manifold (its 3 pieces from ic outlet, lower hose an alloy tube and then the upper hose.)

i can get the reg etc later if needed, as i dont know what engine it is etc.

The wife got stuck in Bristol earlier, the fooking thing was stuck in reverse. She had to get out and rock the car backwards and forwards to get it out of gear lol
