Default Hand brake light on

the mondeos handbrake light is flashing randomly while driving so what could this be a symptom of?

Does it do anything other than tell you the hand brakes on? On the Sierra it was a low fluid warning light and abs pressure etc so rather than just change the switch is rather have a proper fix

It comes on for a second or so, flashes a few times then out again

Or it will come of for a few seconds and then go out

All while driving on smooth roads and not after bumps or the like

If it was any other light I'd wait till I got home but obv brakes are the one thing you can't ignore

Cheers

Yes, it is multiple purpose, have you checked the fluid?

The handbrake needs 2 inches of movement before the light comes on so I can't believe it's the switch

It's probably not the same but fiat punts had a fault with the brake warning light on and it was air in the resivor. I used to give them a tap to get the air out.

I've got some fluid and copper grease now so when the time comes I'll figure out how to get the wheels off and go from there

If I didn't need to access the bleed nipples on the other side of the caliper is so it from within the spokes and not even need a jack

Unplug the wiring plug on the reservoir cap, see if it still does it.

It did it about 4 times in 2 hours totally at random but seeing as the cars going to be parked up for the next few weeks I'm not sure I'll get a chance to look at it

Right dojj ii had it on my fez fords said its 1 of 3 things:
1.faulty handbrake switch (unlikely)
2.brake fluid below max (most likely)
3.rear abs s nsors/rings all shitted up

Yesterday in the rain I decided to have a look

Other than the rear brakes being almost rusted solid into place the off side bleed nipple was leaking slightly

So a full rear refurb and a replacement nipple from my stack of parts and a fluid top up means it should all be sorted now

And the level is difficult to gauge as its a bit deceiving
