Default Think my speedo is out!

I'm 100% sure my speedometer isn't reading properly! Is there anyway to check this other than driving alongside someone telling me my speed?

Am I right in thinking there's a sensor in the box that can be changed?
Can it be repaired of better buying a replacement?

if running std wheels and tyres it will just need recalibrating, but if you have changed the wheels from OE it will throw it out

You asked if there is a way to check it, phone app or Tom tom type sat nav is way to check it. If it is then found to be out due to different wheels then recalibrate.

My 205 pug was out but it was out all the way around the speed range so I just popped the pointer off with two spoons and put it back on in correct place.

mate the gearbox mounts are dead easy as for the rest its all very easy too even for a novice as the frst is one of the easiest cars to strip and rebuild, you need to seek a specialist over speedo recalibration though

Just be careful with GPS speed. It's slow to update, and depending on the system, may be affected by changes in altitude.
