I won this car on ebay for £410
its fooking SOLID, has the propper 5 spd conversion to the inner wing, turbo tank conversion, mk1/2 upper engine mount cvh conversion, front crossmember cut and weldeded proffesionally, everything chucked in, not propperly fitted really.
for £410 i HAD to buy it
got it home and its a propper chuck it together botch job
mk2 rear axle, which means the mk1 brake setup wont work on it and handbrake is useless, no mounting points on a mk1 for a mk2 handbrake setup. pisss
needs soo many little clips just to get things held in the right place
sump was FOOKED
, been botched up with araldite
, fitted a new one today
brakes are another matter, servo and master cylinder from a mk1 actually touch the dizzy and leads, so this needs moving, we have found out that the late mk2 xr2 stuff clears the dizzy considerably, so we will be going this route.
freed off everything while it was on the ramps to make things easier when we don't have use of them
few piccies, looks NOTHING different to how it was purchased but believe me we have put 40+ hours into this car already.....
the little things count
small dent in front wing

crossmember and front panel butchered !!!! fookin last owner tosser

sump off

Clean as fook

somewhere near

WHY THE FOOK DID YOU CHOP ALL THIS OUT YOU TOSSER ???

This car was in the scrappers for 8 hours before we Raped it completely
, got EVERYTHING we could ever need of it for a fooking bargain price, but maybe we should have actually bought the fooker considering how long it took to get the bits.... 2 seperate 5 hour visits

Sid the helper on my double bed, HOW FOOKIN BIG

Tim at the Dilshad tonight, niiice curry

where we are upto now ....
trying to get s2 RST calipers to fit, which means making up our own brackets as a try and fail basis
we are getting there, once calipers and discs are fitted, all there is left to do is get the fooker running
lets hope and pray please
updates soon, with propper piccies

looking good
you got any idea of ETA for it ?
looks in really good nick for considering its just sat, shame the last owner hadnt treated those bits so they didnt rust. was he gonna put the rad off a juggernaut in the front of there ?
anyway im sure itl look class when you get round to tidying it up, once the more important jobs are out the way.
wish there was some scrappys with mk2's in round here
keep the pics and updates coming
Bri.

i havn't got a piccy m8, but believe me, it was fooking touching
...
well it WAS with the mk1 servo and master cylinder... a cvh just doesnt go in properly with that setup im afraid
you need the FULL mk2 xr2 setup, ... all parts ....
servo, stubby master cylinder, servo mounting brackets both sides and the bar that goes from the pedal box to the servo..
THEN ... you have to chop a hole in the bulkhead where the bar goes through to connect to the pedal as it NOW will sit higher up, if your lucky, you will get the gromet from the mk2 and draw round it, then cut out, or its trial and error. its about the size of a 10 pkt of fags the hole you have to cut.
hope this helps m8

Right, we have put the ERST brake conversion on hold for the time being and refitted the XR2 brakes but added braided hoses
which i had left over from my ERST which i only replaced the fronts on....
the rear escort ones are a perfect size for xr2 front... weired
had to make up a couple of pipes too, as one snapped at the end and the front one was too short with the new mk2 mastercylinder fitted
, knocked em up and fitted , job done
bleeding time and nothing coming through rear o/s at all
, tim poked it with a screwdriver a bit, and it pissed out all over him when i slammed the pedal down
well at least they work
next we took the loom out completely so we can fit the ecu's inside the car so it looks pretty
.. going to be a bit of chopping of the loom as the last owner has botched it a bit, but shouldnt take long
..
gotta buy a hole-saw
dunno where from yet.
also need the spacer washers for the king nuts on the rear drums cos both are missing
gotta also weld or rivet up the handbrake mounting bracket that we have chopped from a mk2 to our mk1 so we can finally get the handbrake working
couple of pics, one shows the hole we had to chop in the bulkhead for the mk2 brake pedal bar conversion, its a shite pic tho, sorry

AGAIN, i fooking hate the front panel, a new one is going on as soon as we can get a XR2 one, as they are different to a std mk1 fiesta panel
oh yeah, all taken on my nokia 6630, fooking awesome camera

oh forgot to mention, once those few little bits are done we can finally get the fooker running and on the road... shouldnt be long now...
then its stripdown and rebuild time for everything
we just wanted to make sure it is driveable first and have a bit of fun before we go mental on it
its only cost £520 up to now ALL IN

Good news
After finally getting the loom sorted and feeding it through the bulkhead so the Ecu's and relays are inside the car, plummed everything in, made brackets for rad and intercooler.
basically The Mk1 was ready to fire up
well the fooker turned over, but wouldnt fire, hmmm whittled it down to a very weak / no spark. shitter..
the loom was a bit of a nightmare when we got the car due to the previous butcher, and we just put wires where we could remember them being, and we weren't getting a propper feed to the coil.
after much head scratching and wire swapping, it still wouldnt spark although we had followed the rs turbo wiring diagrams in the haynes (although some of the wires are a different colour for some bizzarre reason which pooed things up a bit.
then I remembered that i had spotted wiring help on A11 XRT a few years ago... off to set my mates pc up as he is decorating and it was tucked away in a cupboard. only to discover that i couldnt find the A11 XRT website, but luckily remembered a link from Retrofiesta so popped on there and read the wiring help to the letter.
JOB DONE , plenty of sparky goodness
all plugged back together and it still wouldnt fire pisser.
had an idea of towing it to get a bit of compression into the engine as we don't know how long it hasn't run for.
towed it all of 5 yards in 1st gear and the fooker burst into life , smoked its tits off for a second then idled perfectly, although it was noisy as fook due to it only having 1/4 of an exhaust on it at the moment .
sounded like a turbo'd V8
THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE SITE LADS, its REALLY helped us and made my day
so thats one more MK1 XR2 turbo on the road , just a bit of tidying and a few more jobs to do then its MOT time then PLENTY of fun for summer
Cant fookin wait

Done another 10 hours on it today and worked until 10pm
basically its built and ready for some fun

only way we could get exhaust to fit for now to keep the noise down is a side exit
, will be getting a sysetm built ASAP

Loom tidied

hitting something with a hammer

refitted dash too, along with securing ecu's and relays inside the car
What it needs....
setting up.. dont wanna drive it on boost till its setup, you never know !!
fanbelt - a small one
2 washers for rear bearings
get it starting on key
exhaust system building
think thats about it
£550 all in
