Hello everyone,
Ok, so I'm looking at a few different brands of tyre for my Cossie for trackday use.
I've previously (and stupidly) used Yokohama parada spec 2's and as the track was greasy, proved for a dissapointing day of hardly any track time and I span off, luckily not hitting anything.
Really looking for the experienced trackday heads to give me some good options.
Cheers Billy

RSR is a road tyre compound.
Toyo have a R888R as well as R888 now, limited sizes at present though, but apparently better at warmup and grip life before overheating.
Kumho V70 very good.
There was another thread on here after the autosport show talking about them.

The RSR's get really good reviews. I have never used them so cant comment although plenty have.
On my race car I have been running yoko's A048's although I have found them quite a tricky tyre to keep in the "sweet" spot.
Have used Michelin Cups for years and are still the tyre of choice for the road car when on track.
I have Michelin Pilot Super Sports fitted to the road rims and they are pretty good as well.
Lots of choices and huge variations in price. good luck....lol

I rate the rsr highly for value for money on track. I buy mine here http://www.mytyres.co.uk/cgi-bin/rsh...=1#Reifenlabel
If it's road legal tyres you need, stick with something like the Federal RSR, Yoko AD08R etc. At least they have a full tread that will remain legal for some time.
Kumho's V70 have minimal tread and certainly any I've used, last no length of time at all before they are illegal.
Or even the Nankang RS2 thingies get decent reviews for tracks and they're cheap. Although it seems they are still fairly hard compounds compared to others.
They are a 3rd of the price in some sizes of the bigger brands. On my local circuit Llandow I did a lap time of 50.2 on toyo proxes 4 and switched to federal and did a 48.5. I don't think any tyre in the same price range would compete with them for grip and they are really good in the wet too
