Mercedes Vito CDI 111 Propshaft
Hi, does anyone have some advise on how to check the above as from 30mph upwards my van now feels like im sitting on a washing machine .
Ive had all 4 tyres changed , common front anti roll bar bushes , all 4 wheel bearings checked but its still the same .
Ive heard the Vito suffers from Prop problems but not sure how to check it ? Not a ford I know but hoping someone will know

They are front wheel drive. They're known to eat driveshafts. There's likely to be play in the CV joints, outers get the hardest life. Get underneath it and try rotating the inner end of the shaft with the wheel locked. There should be almost no play in either inner or outer joint.
Vito hasn't been FWD for years!
The new one about to launch will have a choice of FWD with lower-powered 1.6engines. The current 2.1 engines will continue as RWD. The Europeans can also choose 4x4.

have changed propshaft on a couple of vitos (4x4)
Stupidly expensive (4k+vat from merc stealership)
can change just the bearing (300£+vat)but will not be a lasting repair because of the universal joints are worn out and merc will not sell you new ones(at least not here in norway).
will see if i can find the part nr for the universal joints(buy mine from a tractor parts company) and the bearing.

had a transit once that one of the U shaped pieces of the UJ had opened up slightly. occasionally you would set off and it would vibrate violently up to 30mph or so then it would centralise itself and it would clear. It wasn't much and only really showed up when i took the prop off the van.
i actually managed to fix it by squeezing it back together in a vice. Ran for another 20k with no problems!
