Default Limits of a T34?

What sort of numbers can a standard Cosworth T34 push out? I'm gathering parts for a 940 turbo, and as it's a T3 flange it should fit with a bit of jiggery pokey, I'm hoping for 350bhp but closer to 400 would be nice! Will it run out of puff before then?

Also, if anyone has one laying around they wish to get rid of, let me know

Ben.

On it's limits @ 400 Ben, good spec'd engines will do it but as said, turbo life is very limited.

With a .63 housing and good spec and 2 bar, 2.2 bar peak will be a nice 370-390 car with similar torque.

If you want 400 get a bigger turbo and run less boost and this will also help turbo life too

As Pete say upto 400bhp for reliable power.
I've just had mine mapped and just over 2 bar holding as much as it can up the revs gave 410bhp

If your wanting to run good power you should definitely have a 360 degree bearing in it.

Boost control is critical to get good numbers from a T34, you need to get them to hang onto boost at high rpm, my esc cos did 414bhp peaking at 28psi, but holding 26/27 using an aftermarket controller.
A spike in boost wont gain you bhp but give a spike in torque.

Cheers for the replies chaps, unfortunately the standard 8v head on a 940 isn't particularly free flowing so without plenty of head work it needs plenty of boost down its neck, so perhaps a bigger turbo might be a wise choice.

It's a proper budget build as they're wildly over engineered as standard, I looked into a HX35 but that seems more like a 500bhp turbo which is a bit overkill is it not?

Another option was a cheap Chinacharger but that's probably asking for trouble lol.

It'll be on a MBC for the time being.
Was that on a standard T34?

I'm not dead set on 400, however I can imagine it'll soon end up getting that way!

Have any of you had experience with Holsets? They're very popular with the Volvo boys over in Sweden and the likes, seem to be well priced too.

Make sure ur exhaust is big enough, I had a gt40 on 0.85 ar and changed upto 1.05 ar on a 2.65 litre and picked up over 100 hp from that alone!

And I backed up the extra dyno power by 30-130 being over 1 second quicker

Do you mean make sure the exhaust housing is big enough or the exhaust itself?

Turbine housing bud, although I seem to remember my old t4 was on a t3 0.63 housing and that did 472 hp
