Not done one but guessing front hubs, sump, gearbox, front brakes, clutch and propshaft will all need changing.

Yes depends if you can get a deal on job lot of stuff!
Front hubs, front shocks and springs, front brakes, gearbox, prop shaft, sump, rear diff, subframe, power steering rack just from memory may be 1 or 2 more things

I know of a 4x4 converted to 2wd, whereby they kept the 4x4 front end set up and just had the outer driveshaft cups machined back.
So in theory it can be done with just sourcing a box and prop. -if your happy to keep the rear end with 7"diff.
All depends if you want it done cheap or you want it done exactly as the 2wd setup.

Yeah, I cant see anything wrong with doing it that way.
Maybe change the spring rates, geometry set up & away you go.

Totally wrong everything is wrong to set it right you would spend more money to adapt everything to adjust to the spec thats required than it will cost to how its done correctly bellow

You need to change the lot, getting rid of the 4x4 box and linkage and replacing with a t5 means a better drive, rwd fun and big power with no reliability problems

Apologies if this is a stupid question! But why would you want to convert 4WD to 2WD?
Were the 4WD Cossies rubbish or something?

So why not just buy a 2WD? Or are there not many left now?
Sorry if I'm coming across as a bit of a plank but I just don't get it. I used to love the Cossies when I was growing up (still a fan now!), but I've never driven either of them. Maybe if I had, I might see why people want to do it.
I mean, I've never heard of anyone wanting to convert their Scooby or Evo to 2WD?

I agree it seems completely illogical to me on a saph, I understand it on an escos as they were never made rwd.

there will no doubt be more 4x4 shells available and in better condition as there newer and no doubt not so abused, still a lot of pointless work imo unless its a mental specced one then its irrelevant as it built from the ground up anyway.

Because if you want to run high power/torque levels the std 4wd transmission is not anywhere near as strong as the rwd.

Basic choice is go rwd or spend Ł3k+ on a 4wd box

I've been looking for a 2wd cossie for ages there not coming up any more breakers have pulled them apart. standard ones pop up from traders for silly money but there are some good spec 4x4 out there so maybe my only option.

I had a escort cosworth and my pals has a saff with 30 bhp more and he flu passed me because the 4x4 transmission loses to much power.
