so basically I have a mk 5 1.6 cabriolet and have just bought a 1.6 rs turbo engine and wanted to know if it was a straight swap, I also have a chipped ecu for my new engine, will I need a new loom or can I use the old one? is there anything eles I need? thanks

 

To put it as concisely as I can and assuming it's an MFI engine... You need everything from the RST engine bay/car including the loom's and ECU's and then a fuel pump for the MK5 that will flow enough fuel ( I have never fitted one to a MK5 so no idea what it has a standard).

 

its a efi engine and so is the rs turbo engine, all that is different I think is just the turbo and manifold and there both cvh too.

 

What ECU does your Cabby use? If it's an OFAC/OFAB then might just be a case of swapping ECU's, injectors, manifolds, etc.
