If they bring it in for speeding etc you will get automatic fines and don't tell me you have never gone over the speed limit

thats always the line trotted out by morons to excuse increased attacks on civil liberties or increased surviellance.

What next, tracking chip under the skin... nothing to hide why worry?

or next compulsory cctv in homes, nothing to hide why worry at the cops watching you in the privacy of your home.

Its in the papers so it must be real.. I cant see it either. There will only be old people buying new cars cause there the ones who dont go over the speed limits.

It is a good idea if it stops at what it is intended for and that is calling the emergency services.

However we all know it will get abused and we will all be scammed left right and center.

The Civil Liberties factions will have a field day, but as said this has been kicking about for a while now. It'll likely be made unlawful anyway as it'll be against our Human Right to privacy - the first time it'll actually work for us instead of against. And notwithstanding that, how many of us wouldn't dis-connect it or get the software deleted if the car did have it ? I fuckin' would and bollocks to the consequences. Wherever I go is my business, and I wouldn't have some nosey cunt in MI5 or anywhere else keeping tabs on me. Fuck right off.

The Daily mail do love scaremongering and kicking up a shitstorm....

I don't really think mi5 really cares much about mr average joe blogs going to the shops to get the beers in .
itll obviously be a back door to automatic road traffic fines if it were to happen and its not the first time its been mentioned over the years.

I don't care, the only new car I'd buy is a Lamborghini, and that wont happen any time soon, I'll stick to retro cars thanks.

If they went ahead with it I wouldn't be surprised if cars were eventually limited to do the speed limit dependant on where they are etc!
Although that would put a stop to the income from speeding fines so perhaps not?

That's exactly what I meant - it's all to do with automatic speeding fines, as I referred to I my first post. either way, it's Big Brother watching all the time.

It will be bought in for all the right reasons and we will vote for it
And then it will be used for all the wrong reasons and we will never get rid of it
If it was used across the board to limit the speeds of everyone on every road then it isn't as problem
The problem is that they will be tracking you day and night and it's son going to be like that tom cruise film about people setting the potential future and then stopping it from happening before it's happened

hear what people are saying but how many of you get in your car with your phone ; all of you ' it gps locates you all the time the battery is in . so why would they bother fitting a tracker all they need to do is upgrade their technology to be able to track all of you

Agreed, I struggle to get GPS on mine and when I do the battery gets cained. Best you could hope for would be a limited accuracy mobile mast triangulation.
