Default how to tell if level 8 is running c/loop?

hi all-recently bought 3 door-running level 8 orange ticket ecu
chip inside has no lable but a wee globe window on it
car has lambda sensor wired into harness[new harness]
car has greens/stage 3 tune 200 motor etc[was cosy travs off here]

how do i tell if car runs closed loop-or do all the later level 8 ecu run with lambda feedback under slow condtions

All level 8 ecu's are capable of running closed loop.
Whether they do or not is up to the software in the eprom - it must be enabled.

Check the signal of the Oxygen (lambda) sensor. If it is switching between roughly 0.2 and 0.8 volt it's very likely to run closed loop.

it can? i supose it is kinda covered up when the lid is on ecu-but will investigate-thank you

will also check the signal wire[white i presume] from the 3 wire lambda sensor
the lambda was certainly active as the lum. afr meter was working/recieving a signal from this wire[whether it was between the voltage mentioned or not i would have to check

looking back at the original owner/restorer posts for resto etc it would seem to have been a collins chip-but i suppose this could have been swapped out at one time or another as the was 3 years ago or so-i did mail him with a few questions about the car on here and rsoc but havent heard back

Chances are it is, but you have only verified the operation of the sensor, this does not mean it's enabled in the software, i.e. if it has another calibration!

If exposed to UV light then it would be erased, even in direct sunlight though it would take considerable time, but yes generally it is good practice to cover it.

Default closed loop

is the closed loop part enabled elsewhere on the ecu-or on a piggyback board,or within the chip itself?

It's software based (chip).

Default software

so if i wanted to go down to a stage 1 tune on std injs i would change the chip to suit[and map sens/set boost] and i could either fit a regular type chip or a closed loop one..or likewise up to blues/ greys and associated bits and bobs
its all in the chip..? good to know
