Default 3 door rebuild

Thought I'd start a thread on here seeing how I've been perving over everyone else's projects and not really contributing to the site, progress has been quite slow over the last few years as been busy with work, kids, houses and a wedding but now with all that to the way I can spent some cash/time on my sierra.

Bought the car in 2007, had a mk6 rs2k 4x4 that I loved and adored but it was rotten as a pear so it got broken up and sold on in parts, always wanted a 3 door since I was 11 and my dad's mate had a white rep, looked shit tbh but left a lasting impression, spent ages looking for a car eventually found this car is Chester, advertised as a clean stage 3 car with low miles but was a cat d at some time in its life, doesn't bother me as the shel was mint and the car drove beautifully.

When I got it it smoked quite badly, was assured it was the turbo seals and I knew fuk all about cossies when I got it, got the turbo rebuilt and it still smoked like a trooper so took the head off and the valve guides were fucked and the pistons rattled about in the bores so was time for a rebuild, cars been off the road for over 4 years now as I said life got in the way but been plugging away, when engine was out we stripped the underneath down and got all the suspension powder coated and new wheels bearings bushes and bolts ect, the engine got a rebore with +0.25 pistons, a ground crank, fully rebuilt head, all new gaskets, reconditioned rocker cover, Alcon clutch, I'll slap up some photos of the progress that's happened over the last few weeks

First wash in a while, really needs a clay bar and a polish but once it's running my painter mate is giving it a good once over and see what needs painted

So there she is, most of the pics are shitty iPhone pics but you get the idea, got the intercooler and radiator fitted yesterday and sourcing bits for the fuel system now so we can get the engine fired up, once that done it's off to paint then wheels reconditioned

Managed to get the intercooler cleaned up and fitted also split the fans off the radiator and cleaned, pressure tested and painted the radiator and used some interior plastic cleaner on the fans and their shroud came up as new, got all that fitted and had to move it off the ramp as my brother needed it, will get it moved back on the ramp during the week if I'm not sent offshore, then I'll get the last of the brake pipes made and get it all bled then it's time for the fuel system to get fitted up

Right quick update, nothings happened in the last 12 weeks as ive been grounded because of sciatica so havent been offshore to pay for parts, just back from a quick trip and going away again on wednesday so hopefully Ill be able to get my fuel pump, filter, lines and regulator and ill get the old girl fired up, got an old pinto dizzy i can mod to make an oil pump priming tool caus its a fresh engine build and its sat for a while so need to get some lube round it before i fire it up.

also can anyone tell me if the fuel pressure regulators for a cosworth you can buy from msd can be modded to run an fittings, ie can you unscrew the fittings that are on it (for push on hose) and replace them with mpt fittings?

Haven't been doing much to the car but had a few weekends on it got the oil cooler and hoses fitted along with the water hoses, coil mounted and wiring repaired , alternator stripper and cleaned and rebuilt , fuel pump and filter mount built up , got an msd fuel regulator and got my mate to tig weld some an fittings onto the fuel rail and he's also welding an fittings onto the tank inlet-outlet so every fuel line will be stainless hose with jic fittings , using the hose crimper at work with stainless ends , hose is -6 feed and return with -8 feed from tank to pump , got an old distributer for a pinto from another mate so stripped that to get the shaft out of it so I can use the shaft as an oil pump primer so when it's fired up I can put some oil pressure through it as the engine was built a few years ago and never fired so don't want it firing up dry, also fitted up the bumpers and grill mostly just because they were getting in the way but they'll need to come off again to get painted , offshore this now so once I'm back im going to get stuck in and get it started up
