I do like it on steels with wheel trims...

Well, ive got the engine out & bay all stripped down for its new transplant. So suprised how clean it is for a 30 year old ford... my engine choice is not going to impress a few people but tbh its nice to be different, its mainly going to be used for track use/shows ect.

Today i got the wiring loom & auxiliaries removed, ready to fabricate a cradle for the engine/box to sit on. I plan on fitting castor wheels & adjustable brackets which enables me to level the engine with the correct 12° tilt which the K20 has from the factory.. makes life easier when it comes to the mounts ect...

Nice, something a bit different. I think years ago I did hear of one other escort with a honda engine fitted.

Whats the going rate for one of them now?

I'm liking the sound of this project . are you putting the engine and gearbox from the Honda . Witch to be onest would make life a lot simpler . If so you will need custum made drive shafts making . So when that tuntime comes speak to MK on here with the fiesta as he had some made for his car so he might be able to tell you the place to use

Ive made a basic frame with castor wheels.. also started to make an adjustable front gearbox mount using a jack..(May aswel use scrap parts) the driveshafts won't be a problem. I know of a motorsport company who makes shafts. I will have to cut both ends, make a sleeve & weld them, then the will be matched & made... im currently spending about an hour a day on it during lunch breaks at work so its not going to be a fast project..

Interesting project! Should go well with that engine I would think. Plenty of tuning parts out there too. Is it a big lump with the gearbox on?

The engine is just over 1 & 1/2" higher & 1/2" wider tham the old 1.6. I test drove the doner car & revved to 9k. And around 230 bhp with K-pro ecu..

So this happened today. Such a good fit, there is alot of clearance which is always a good thing. I also decided to use the original Civic type r mounts & change at a later date. All in all a productive day!!!

Looks a interesting project, certainly something different.

Are you going to be able to run the engine on the civic ecu?

They do stick out quite far, i suppose its due to having the subaru width/track.. the front arches have been widened too
