Default Can I run a Pectel monitor on an L8 ECU?

Ok maybe a dumb question but thought i'd ask anyway....

If I wanted to install this in my car, what would I need to go with it, a full pectel ecu?

First of all, this is NOT a pectel monitor. It is a GEMS monitor suited for a Pectel ecu on a Group A cosworth. The ecu is most likely a Pectel T6-2000.
The firmware in this monitor will be setup for a 3-bar map sensor, not the standard 2 bar.
It will also be setup for the Pectel ecu and not an L8 or P8 ecu. As far as I can remember we had to have the firmware of the Pectel monitor changed when we switched from the P8 to the Pectel T6-2000.
Never mind the fact that both the hardware and software of the L8 and/or P8 must be changed to add this function.
You will also need special software from Gems if you want to log and review data.

Sounds a bit too expensive to me.

Yes you can run a pectel monitor with l6/l8 I have mine on a l6 , but you need a pectel board inside ,and the comms on the chip switched on , beware so monitor have extra hardware in side to run pectel t6 /2000,witch won't work with a weber l6/l8, hope this helps

They do a Collins monitor ,works the same as pectel ,l8,l6 p8,there chip just has the comms switched on ?work by the data stream from ecu ,not the sensors as secs does

Yea but don't you have to have a Collins chip for 1 of those and I think the secs monitor would be better if it gave you afr and oil temp and pressure then there would be no need for any other gauges in the car

Don't think you do ,think any chip with the comm switch on will work as the Collins board is the same as I pectel ? In the ecu , but don't quote me

Thanks for the replies, actually didn't realise it was as complexed as that, I have a pectel board but currently just running SECS monitor and was looking for something a little extra and different to put in a road/track car, but think I'll have to weigh up the costs, as I'm happy with current management so no point in changing everything for a few extra nice to have features.

Don't shoot me, but I don't really see any major differences between Collins, Secs, and those other IAW aftermarket monitors. I am of course willing to be educated in this if I am misinformed.
