Default Transit Connect Starter fitted to my 3 Door

After seeing a thread about the Transit Connnect starter motor fitting a Cossie and that my starter was giving the death rattle and sticking abit I thought I try it out.
It fits perfectly works a treat seems alot punchier than my old one but an asthmatic OAP cranking it over by hand would have felt punchier than my old one
It more compact and weighs 1.5kg lighter than a standard one, all in all awesome
Here's a photo not the best quality taken from my iPhone in poor lighting conditons:

And here's the link where I got it from £56 with free next day delivery bargain

Now this info has came to light, it means that from now on anyone searching for a Transit Connect starter motor on ebay, will be faced with endless cosworth, rs, rs500 tags... And will also face the obligatory RS taxation??

It is rather cheap from this fella the same starter from Unipart is £127 plus £85 surcharge unless you give them your old one.

I bought a magnetti item for mine for £50 exchange 6 years ago and still looks brand new and works a treat. But this is good to know for the future as they'll be available in a few years time

Car Spares by me lists the same part number for all the Cosworth range, so can't see why a 4x4 would be different.

Strange as the bell housing on my 4x4 saff is threaded, unless i would need to drill out the threads on the starter

That's the only difference between 2wd and 4x4 fitments. 2wd has a threaded starter, 4x4's have the threads in the bellhousing. So you can just drill the starter holes out and use 4x4 bolts

I fitted a transit connect starter which was only a couple of months old and its sheared the gear so it spins freely resulting in no starting what could be causing this? Had it on the car less than 12 hours with 4-5 startups

Could be just a manufacturing defect, damaged teeth on the ring gear, solenoid engaging to late and smashing into the ring gear, damaged from dropping or hitting when installing.
You got and photos?
