Default ST170 Rear suspension issue

Hi all,

After recently picking up an st170, I have had a knocking on the rear passenger side suspension.

Most noticeable over small bumps, potholes etc.

ARB Links have been changed, not solved.

So tonight I go back out for a third time to find something that knocks bangs or shakes nothing stands out.

Now I have noticed, after the car has settled and been driven, that the arch gap on the passenger side is larger than on the drivers side. Full four fingers on pass side, only 3 on the drivers, maybe only around 15-20mm difference

From this I check springs and it seems there is one ring more, on the drivers side, looking like a broken spring on the passenger side, surely this should be lower, not higher?

This seems to be opposite to what makes sense and I'm stuck of what to check next without footing garage bills / buying more parts that aren't needed.

I've got 150 miles to do over this weekend and can't have it in bits investigating.

So firstly... I have no rubbing, should be fine to drive?
Secondly... any suggestions on what to check to really pinpoint the problem?

Thanks all, I would be posting pics but I hate it a little bit right now

Probably a collapsed control blade bush.

One of these..

Which to remove and fit, you need this tool..

After partially dropping the subframe.

Not really as there is a plastic cover over that area.

But you might get a prybar in there to wiggle and check for play.

another thing to check are the exhaust hangers still there? mine rusted off year ago and on bumps the exhaust bounces off the rear subframe
