Default Anyone got any WRC/GrpA rally or Rallycross engine dyno graphs?

As title really, not just Ford, but obv' there are a ton of suitable Ford ones around no doubt.

Obv' when I mean rallycross I mean the top class 2ltr turbo engines.

Or indeed any BIG boosting (ie 35psi+) engine.

Want to compare things, torque curves, etc etc.

Thanks!

I would love to see what WRC engines "really" produce! A close friend had a group A Tommy fields engine that ran at 312 bhp and 480lb/foot but I've heard of some WRC Cosworth engines at 335bhp and 560 torques.

Can anyone one comment, especially on the last of the 2ltr WRC focus engine's.

I've seen in the past modern (well, well under 10 years old) WRC car dyno figures showing well over the supposed 300bhp, a couple just over 400bhp mark (at ridiculously low revs, as you'd expect from a car with an inlet restrictor), and around 500-520lbft.

The problem with numbers, and graphs, is it's all too easy to twiddle a few knobs and get whatever number you like, so you always got to wonder, and for WRC etc they generally won't ever admit to having more power than they should.

Tbh this is why I was interested most in seeing graphs, as it gives a better impression of the powerband, even if the numbers are a bit out.

It's always fascinated me as well. Being part of rallying for a long time I've seen how a group A and WRC car can accelerate, I navvied for a eason in a group a spec inmpreza and the performance was unreal!

Taking it a little further Ive always wondered what lap times a proper tarmac spec WRC could achieve

Yeah, it's interesting, as it's a long way from what we're used to on road cars.

Problem with a WRC car doing circuit lap times is gearing, as even these supposed 400bhp+ graphs I've seen, the cars were peaking out at under 5000rpm, and once you've geared them out for the long straights of a circuit you've killed a lot of the acceleration, and if you left them as is they'd be on the limiter in top for most the corners, never mind the straights lol.

With a rallycross engine it'd be interesting, as you've got a bigger restrictor then, so more power (supposedly 550 odd) and more rpm too. I hear Liam Doran is keen to do a round or two of Time Attack this year in his Rallycross car, so that will be interesting.

What I have seen as well which was cool, was a back to back restrictor on and off test with a Garrett TR30R, which is the turbo a lot of WRC cars use.
Torque and power both jumped up about 100 bhp/lbft without the restrictor, but peak power was still low-
With the restrictor on it peaked at 3700 and very slowly tailed off (but only by about 50bhp) until the 6k limit.
Without it it still only peaked about 4.5k and slowly tailed off (again, only losing about 50bhp by the limiter) with a 6750 limit.
From what I understand the engine wasn't strangling it with the cam/head spec, so that's just how the turbo responds- Which makes sense when it's something designed to work with that size restrictor.

Nothing random, just the figures found on dyno graphs, true or not.

Feel free to post some facts rather than just laughing.
