I want to clean and paint my sump but I havent got an engine stand, so can stand it on its side without causing any damage ???

yes, just be careful your not doing damage or bend anything when you put it on its side like your dipstick for example and dont forget to empty the oil FIRST.

Yeah theres not alot on it, and iv drained the oil out

Just make sure you have plenty of rags and maybe some plastic down just in case.

Should be absolutely fine as long as you dont kick it over

I would be more worried about not standing it up properly,like denting the sump upwards.
