Default Omex ECU any good?

Im currently researching into something for my Focus, its poorly at the min so I thought while its like that id have the engine out, fix it and upgrade it at the same time.

Any way what i want to do requires an aftermarket ecu. The ones that keep coming up are the Omex ones. They seem to get mixed reviews though, any others i should consider. Anyone on here use one? What do u lot think? Any others i should consider?

Thanks.

Mods sorry if this is in the wrong place, please move if you need to

Only you and most importantly whoever will be installing and tuning it can say whether it is suitable.

You dont actually specify your needs or requirements of any ecu though.

Im just researching at the min but i think will pedley will be the man for the job.

It will be for an itb setup and eventually progressive controlled nos too but thats not ecu controlled any way. Theres so much needed for the ITB setup.

Originally when it first happened i was just going to get a mk1 rs front end (engine, box, loom, ecu, subframe, etc) and bolt that in place, but no one can tell me if its an exact fit. Seems that would be the best way to go for more gains.

I really dont want to get rid of my car because its worth next to nothing in good nick and ive spent quite a lot on it any way already.

Now its not very well it seems the perfect chance to do something awesome with it

have you asked what is needed to fit a frs engine in on here?
the engine and box drop straight in, loom will need changing along with ecu and maybe the dash as they are canbus iirc.
no need to change subframe afaik.
if you're planning on blowing cash, may as well just build a well spec'd zetec turbo with a frs gearbox, there is a point where the power becomes too much without expensive tyres etc. though.

p.s. omex is pretty good, but would need vvt control, i think omex 710 can do that (don't quote me on that though)
plenty of other ecu's though, so find a tuner then go from there.

Yeah i have and all i got back was why bother, blah blah but im not going into all that, i just want a bit of advice. I dont want massive power, just good solid, useable, reliable power. Do u think a zetec turbo would be a better way to go then? Rather than itbs and keeping the car na? Whichever way i go i think it would end up costing about the same but id rather do it right and spend what i need to rather than trying to cut corners and making a bodge of it.

My cars worth nothing as is so i may as well just build something cool and then keep it.

Karl Norris (Norris Motorsport) is quite near you,he's in Alfreton, he's an Omex dealer, give him a call for some advise. He is awesome with cossies,he also tunes the Focus rs mk1, see what he has to say, nice bloke is Karl and will offer endless options/advise as he sees fit.

Another Omex dealer is PJ Motorsport in Birmingham, the owner is Paul, maybe worth a chat to him to,Paul also has a hub dyno on site, depends how you wanted the car mapped/set up on the road or on a dyno.
I hope this helps you.
