My Dad and me have just bought a 1987 ford Sierra I.S 2 door. In black
We are completely restoring the car. Does any body know how much it will be worth??

Great car, my old girlfriends dad had one, was quick (when I was 16) until she parked it in a local sweet shop window

Pretty rare old bus nowadays, I haven't seen one for years

 

Never seen a 2 door IS.Any idea where is from spain,Italy maybe ??.

Just had a quick look and the one I found looked more like a 2 door GLSI,no holey white wheel trims.

 

Sounds like it could be a south african import, rare but would imagine it would cost more to restore than its worth, although you could say that about a lot of cars

 

They were all 3 doors iirc

It was the car before the GLS

Mk 3 doors are fairly common in LHD versions and it'll have a 2.0 injected limit engine in it

 

Nah ours were 4 door 2.0i ohc in the is model,85,86 iirc.The euro ones seem to be 3dr and TC.

 

You're thinking about the wrong car mate

The 2.0 injection sport was an 85/86 (C reg) 3 door shell with 2.0i pinto engine, it was pretty rare back in the day and a lot of people confuse it with the GLS which came after

The dohc engine wasn't even available when this model ran

 

my mate had one and thought it was quick in the day ,never heard of a two door one though

 

All the 2.0 injection sports I've seen have been 5 door

the uk ones were 5 door, the euor ones were mainly 3 door

 

the rear spoiler on the 20L I S is the same as the rs500 lower spoiler except the part number doesn't have C on the end IIRC
oh and the cut out for the upper spoiler but a knife soon sorts that lol

2.0iS spoiler was nothing like the rs500 one mate, it was identical to the xr4x4

I thought the 2.0i S spoiler was rubbery, instead of the hard plastic of the XR4x4?

 

no it wasn't I have an xr4x4 and that's painted from the factory!

it was rubber. the xr one was body colour

they where identical in shape

 

the 2.0iS spoiler doesn't touch the rear wings where as the rs500 does, also as you can see the iS one is actully deeper (check the gaps between the spoiler and the boot lock).
identical to the xr4x4 spoiler on the picture you posted above except the iS is black and the xr is body colour





i have owned both 2.0iS and xr4x4 in the past

I know I picked one up in a scrappy years ago then put it down again I thought it was a 2.0is it must have been a gls

Owned multiple when they were brand new.The odd few things do stay in my memory and dont disappear lol.

I know as the tc came to us in late 89 I think but it seems from the pictures I have seen of the euro ones they are actually mk2 Sierra but 2dr.Which kinda makes sence for a later engine I may be wrong on that though.

You dont see many mk1s with a spoiler,maybe a lot were just fitted from the catalogue.

 

GLS had the same spoiler as the iS. the spoiler on that GLS you have posted is a ford rs accessory part same as the rs500 part but with out the C on the part no and the cut out for the upper spoiler

i could be wrong but i don't think the picture you have posted is a real GLS as i don't think ford made a GLS sierra that early and i think they only came with the 2.0inj pinto in the mk1 not carb.

 

yes i think i have, the old 2.0i s, think it was a 3/5dr 2.0 ohc with sports trim, before they brought out the gls
